How F-Secure missed something Kaspersky detected, I am not sure. Last time I checked, their Antivirus 2006 package loads up 19 processes on bootup. Norton misses a lot antivirus miss alot, keeping virus free on the internet is 50% your software and 50% the user, if your going to porn sites downloading free games online, opening every email you get, not updating windows, etc... Windows Defender is free and takes care of the spyware/adware in the background. Back to KAV 5, what is the difference between it and 6? Firefox might not be perfect but it is head and shoulders above IE. I'm convinced, too, it has helped keep my system cleaner. BTW, the guy at London Drugs today recommended Trend's PC-cillian. As long as you don't have Active X on, avoiding malware shouldn't be much of a problem.

The only one I havent used in a long long long time is Mc Afee. Don't need no stinkin integrated spyware/adware/firewall bloat. I have not had a virus on my computer since the first site of blaster (then i got a router and never worried about it again)i use symantec AV, but its never picked up a virus, and i run alot of other scans every so often just to make sure, now spyware is a different story, i do a scan once a month and it usually finds about 10-15 spyware, always the same ones .honestly if you do things right on the internet you dont even need an AV i know i could get rid of mine and be fine If you don't like F-Secure, use something else. I had a previous version of Norton on one partition/operating system and XP on another. I switched to Fire Fox after I formatted and never encountered any problems since then. I have downloaded Avira which is FREE abd rated even better than Kaspersky: » ··· 6_08However, Avira Free Version has no email protection I'm having a really hard time getting my hands on Kaspersky 5.If it was from P2P or from friend's PC's/software that's a different story. The detection base is the same between the two versions so you are not missing much. Norton is also a resource hog, and as previously mentioned, F-Secure is quite bloated, worse than NAV, imo. I even emailed KAV tech support and they couldnt help me. Once I uninstalled KAV (6) my bandwidth was normal. But relying on Windows Firewall on a permanent basis is not alright. Guaranteed whenever someone talks about firewalls some dweeb will come on and harp on about how important outbound is.
